In case internet gambling gets legalized across Connecticut, whether it is due to the federal or the state legislation, both the tribes of the state, the Mohegan and the Mashantucket Pequot, said that they wish to be allowed to run the games online as well.
The two tribes of the Connecticut State are federally recognized and each of them own as well as operate a casino. They issued this statement in the wake of a possibility of legislation coming out from either the federal or the state government, which could allow online gaming to be made legal from the home computers.
One of the key members of the committee in Connecticut General Assembly has also told that legislators should not delay their move and they should consider legalizing some, if not all, forms of internet gambling whenever they reconvene. It is believed that the Congress is currently drafting what is possibly a legislation, which will legalize online poker across the nation.
Under the currently legislative language, as being discussed by the US Senate Leaders, the states have the option of making the move for running only online poker under federal program’s regulation. However, as per the program, they will only be allowed to run online poker and not any other online casino games or sports betting in the coming period. The legislation might be acted upon before yearend.
Cheryl Allen, who is the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s public affair coordinator, issued a statement according to which she was concerned about the current state of gambling in the country.
Cheryl said that consumers, at this moment, are looking to make a lot of their spending choices through internet and mobile devices. In case an industry doesn’t adapt to this digital marketplace, it is going to suffer considerably.
